How can I help? Resources for 5th and 6th Grade Families.

Hello, Families!

If you have a child who is in the fifth and sixth grade I might be able to help as you transition to working at home. If you have any questions send me a direct message through twitter or email me at I’ve had the honor of working with families during the last seven years in the Redlands Unified School District and my students are the ones who tell me what they love to do and what they think is boring. While I can’t always make the students TOTALLY HAPPY, I do know what online programs they love. There are so many programs out there………

but if my students had to choose these three are online platforms are at the top of their list, Flocabulary, Scholastic News, and Khan Academy.

They love learning through music. Check out their website. They are offering free access for the next 60 days.

Scholastic-Learn at Home

For the last five years, I have used Scholastic in the classroom. I love it, the students love it. It’s engaging and fun! Please check out the Scholastic Learn at Home they are offering.

Khan Academy

We use Khan Academy with our district Math in Focus curriculum as well as the Grammar Lessons to align with our Journeys program. The students enjoy Khan and it’s free!

I’m going to attach a sample schedule for 5th grade with links. If you can’t get the link to open please let me know. I’m in the process of working on a sixth-grade schedule. In the meantime, happy learning!!!

Sample 5th Grade Schedule

As far as time frames go. That’s up to you. I recommend working for 40 minutes and taking a break. Every student learns differently and it’s hard to determine how long it will take a student to complete an assignment. That’s the beauty of working at home.
